I know that it’s been awhile since I’ve been on. I’ve had a lot to deal with as far as school, fam and relationships go so my schedule’s been pretty much booked guys. So I’m in the last legs of my college career, finally got the gallery page up (finally right?) and I’ve been distributing business cards around Charleston. Speaking of which I’ve got to remember to order more. I’m trying to move out of my apartment which houses myself and 3 roommates and find some sort of studio apartment. I just want to live alone. People are kind of annoying sometimes XD Don’t know if I’ve mentioned it but I’ve been working the Ai Print Studio most of these passed 3 quarters. It’s a welcome change from my serving jobs. I’m pretty much doing office work. Students come to us with their Print jobs and we basically print them. Laser Jet, Booklet Printing, Ink Jet, Copying, Cropping, Cutting, anything you can think of. It’s pretty laid back and the pay isn’t bad either ;) not to mention I get to Print all of my work for free :D Other than that job I’ve been looking to replace my OTB job with something a little closer to home. Commuting to Mt. Pleasant by bus is okay, but I’d much rather work a little more often than only the weekends at my serving job, and I’d probably make more money down here, what with all of the tourists. Been experimenting with a lot of new art techniques lately. Inspired mostly by my Contemporary art and History of Graphic Design classes. I’ll post a few on here soon so you can see what I mean. I got a few freelancing jobs, one of which you can see on the new gallery. It’s called Avani Concepts. A girl who goes to my school was recommended to me by a friend. They pretty much do things like all natural concrete flooring and walkways. Supposedly they’re putting them on shirts this week. She’s going to send me some pics and I’ll put them in the next blog. Been working on a Wine+Food festival poster for next year for one of my classes. I may actually submit it. I think it’s pretty good anyway :P Um, been working on Shadow Dimension comic no. 7 “Breakdown”. Just kind of a side project that helps me get my mind off of school and things. And I’ve been talking to a friend of mine at school named Jaime about getting some of my work up in a few of the Galleries downtown here. Speaking of art Spoleto was pretty awesome although I didn’t get the opportunity to go to any shows this year. I went and looked at the paintings they had in the park, and one of our classes went to the City gallery to see some very impressive installation art! 70,000 coffee stirrers arranged and held together solely by tension. Very impressive, Kudos to Mr. Jonathan Brilliant, local Charleston artist. Went to the Kings of Leon concert here in Charleston last month. It was spectacular, they are great in concert (lots of pot there though, I was surprised). Watched The Life Aquatic a few weeks ago for the first time. Awesome, awesome movies. I’m a fan of Bill Murray’s recent films, for instance, one of my favorites is Lost in Translation. I really think that it’s a look into cross culture social structures and just trying to find someone you can relate to and finding yourself in unfamiliar settings. The Life Aquatic had a lot of the same cast as The Royal Tennanbaums which is up there on my favorites as well. I guess I’m a big movie person :p I went to see Drag me to Hell a couple of days ago with a friend. If you’re think about seeing it, I can say it was pretty good save for the one or two completely preposterous and ridiculous moments in it that are signature of Sam Raimi’s films. He’s the same guy who did the Evil Dead trilogy. Land of the Lost was an awesome movie so don’t believe the hype ( or lack there of ) LoL.
Well, I guess that’s about it, but I’m really going to try to keep you guys updated with more frequent blog entries from now on. Hopefully i can get this new place, then I can really let things flow I think. Anyway, as always, I’ll keep you posted :)
